Toney’s transfer to Al-Ahli on the final day of the transfer window will enable him to earn up to £1 million per week, inclusive of bonuses.

At 28 years of age, Toney has committed to a four-year contract with Al-Ahli, where his reported base salary is approximately £400,000 per week after tax deductions.

With performance-related bonuses, his total earnings could approach £500,000 weekly.

To achieve a similar net income in the UK, Toney would need to earn nearly £1 million per week before taxes.

This transfer represents a significant increase in Toney’s salary, as he was previously earning less than £50,000 weekly at Brentford, where he had spent four seasons following his move from Peterborough United.

The £40 million transfer fee positions him among the highest-paid English footballers.

Toney’s transition to Al-Ahli was nearly jeopardized due to the Saudi club’s concurrent negotiations with Napoli for Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen.

However, a last-minute agreement with Brentford facilitated Toney’s successful transfer.

With his contract at Brentford nearing expiration at the end of the season, Toney faced the possibility of remaining at the club had the deal not materialized.

His new chapter in Saudi Arabia will see him join notable players such as Roberto Firmino and Édouard Mendy at Al-Ahli.

Toney is anticipated to make his debut in the Saudi Pro League following the international break, with his first match against Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al Nassr.
