Chuba Akpom expressed his elation following Ajax’s victory over Polish side Jagiellonia Białystok in a UEFA Europa League playoff match on Thursday evening.
Ajax secured a commanding 4-1 win in the first leg, with Akpom contributing significantly by scoring a hat-trick.
The Nigerian-born forward leveled the score for the Eredivisie team in the first half and added two more goals in the second half, showcasing his impressive performance.
His excitement was palpable after the match.
“It’s amazing. I thank God. I thank my teammates and all the staff for all the support. I had my best match in an Ajax shirt today (Thursday) so I’m happy,” Akpom told Ajax TV.
“Scoring is what I thrive on; it’s what I love to do, so when it’s not happening, it gets frustrating but I’m a very positive and persistent person, so I say thank you to the coach for the trust.”
