Veteran actor Yemi Shodimu took to social media to voice his discontent regarding the recent surge in petrol prices and the persistent shortage. He revealed that he spent N1,000 for each litre of petrol.
In a TikTok video, he performed a modified song, expressing gratitude for being able to purchase 30 litres for N30,000.
“I thank God I was able to buy fuel. I thank God I was able to get fuel. N30, 000 for 30 litres,” he sings.
“Are we seriously okay?”
It is important to note that the government increased petrol prices following the termination of the fuel subsidy in 2023. On September 3, the NNPC raised its petrol price to N855 per litre at its stations, while some other stations are charging as high as N1,200 per litre, prompting Nigerians to prepare for a nationwide protest.
