President Bola Tinubu has urged the graduates of the National Defence College (NDC) Course 32 to remain alert and proactive in tackling the numerous regional and global threats facing the nation.
Tinubu, represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, delivered this message during the graduation ceremony held on Friday in Abuja.
He emphasized that the college has thoroughly prepared the participants with essential knowledge and strategies, encouraging them to rise to the challenges posed by current national security issues.
“We must stay vigilant and proactive in confronting regional and global threats as we move forward.
“We should also continue to advocate for democratic values and uphold democratic principles both in our nation and throughout the continent.
“As the current chair of ECOWAS, we are committed to strengthening relationships and addressing ongoing negotiations within the community,” he stated.
The president praised the college for its commitment to excellence, courage, patriotism, and integrity, assuring that his administration would provide the necessary support for the institution to transition to its permanent location promptly.
He also recognized the outstanding service and dedication of the armed forces in safeguarding Nigeria’s territorial integrity and protecting the lives and property of its citizens.
He reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to addressing the various security, social, and economic challenges facing the country.
“I will continue to do everything within my constitutional powers to ensure that the Nigerian military is well-resourced and capable.
“As a government, we are sensitive to our people’s challenges and we will continue to actively intervene in matters that can affect our citizens.
“Recently, we have made significant strides in addressing some of these challenges.
“We have implemented a new national minimum wage, which will benefit not only civilian workers but also personnel of the Nigerian Armed Forces and other security agencies.
“We are also working tirelessly to counter the menace of the crude oil theft and pipeline vandalism in the Niger Delta.”
He stated that this initiative will enhance our oil production and help us meet our economic objectives. “We are dedicated to fostering a business environment that promotes value addition within our mining sector.
“We are working with international partners to develop a strategy that will harness this sector’s potential for national security,’’ he added.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the college has successfully graduated 111 participants, including members from the armed forces of Nigeria and 19 allied nations.
Participants also included individuals from the Nigeria Police Force, various security agencies, and key ministries, departments, and government agencies.
