Afrobeats musician Divine Ikubor, popularly known as Rema, has returned to his hometown of Benin, Edo State, in preparation for his eagerly awaited homecoming concert.
On Tuesday, Rema’s record label, Mavin Records, released a video on X (formerly Twitter) that captured the artist’s arrival.
The post included an enthusiastic message: “Benin, your illustrious son; The Prince of Afrobeats – Rema is Home!”
Rema first gained prominence with a viral freestyle on Instagram in 2018, where he performed D’Prince’s track “Gucci Gang,” and officially launched his music career in 2019 with the release of his debut single, “Dumebi.” Since then, he has emerged as a prominent figure in the Afrobeats genre, enchanting audiences both locally and internationally.
The highly anticipated concert is set to take place on August 30 at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium.
This event was initially announced by the “Ozeba” artist in July, generating considerable excitement among fans.
This homecoming concert follows a previous attempt by Governor Godwin Obaseki to host Rema in December 2023, which was postponed due to health concerns.
