Lateef Adedimeji, a prominent Nollywood actor, has announced the forthcoming two-part Netflix biopic titled ‘Lisabi’, which features notable actors including Femi Adebayo and Odunlade Adekola, among others.

    The initial segment, ‘Lisabi: The Uprising’, is set to premiere on Netflix on September 27, 2024, followed by its sequel, ‘Lisabi: A Legend is Born’, scheduled for release in January 2025.

    This biopic explores the life and lasting impact of the iconic Yoruba figure, Lisabi, whose significant contributions have shaped Yoruba history.

    Set in the 18th century, the story revolves around an Egba farmer who spearheads a rebellion against the oppressive Oyo Empire.

    His valiant efforts lead to the defeat of over 6,000 Oyo soldiers, ultimately achieving the independence of Egba after prolonged subjugation. The producers have indicated that the film will feature an engaging narrative, dynamic characters, and exceptional production quality.

    The project is produced by Mo Bimpe, who is both an actress and the spouse of Lateef Adedimeji, and directed by Niyi Akinmolayan.

    It represents a collaborative venture between Al Notions Studios and Anthill Studios.

    The screenplay is penned by Niyi Akinmolayan and Yinka Olaoye.

    The cast of ‘Lisabi’ includes Femi Adebayo, Odunlade Adekola, Ibrahim Itele Yekini, Ibrahim Chattah, Mo Bimpe, Eniola Ajao, Liquorose Afije, and Lateef Adedimeji.
