Paul Okoye, known as Rudeboy, has expressed that he and several of his contemporaries should have retired from the music industry by this point.

The 45-year-old artist noted that traditionally, musicians do not maintain long careers.

During an appearance on the Adesope live show, Rudeboy remarked on the challenges of balancing family life with an active music career.

“In the traditional music scene, individuals like us should have already retired,”In the old ways of doing music, by now people like us suppose don retire,” he said.

Events will unfold as they will. If you are a celebrity and expect to be perceived as flawless, you are mistaken; challenges will arise.

“There’s always a time for everything in life. Things will always happen. If you are a celebrity and you think people will always see you like an angel, trust me you’re not going anywhere. There are times that something would be against you. It’s always like that.

“Every top artist has had their share of criticisms and scandals. Even the up-and-coming ones, too, will suffer the same fate someday. It’s a normal thing [in the entertainment industry]. But what matters is your personality and how you handle issues.”

Rudeboy gained prominence in the 2000s as part of the P-Square duo alongside his twin brother, Peter Okoye, also known as Mr. P.

The duo initially parted ways in 2016 but reunited in 2021. However, in August 2024, Rudeboy confirmed that P-Square had once again disbanded following accusations from Peter regarding the misappropriation of the group’s funds by Rudeboy and their elder brother, Jude Okoye, who previously managed them.
