"No producer forces actresses to sleep with him" –Actress, Onyinye Okafor spills

The talented actress Onyinye Okafor stands out as a remarkable figure who has successfully navigated a career devoid of drama, a rarity in the entertainment sector.

In a recent interview with Saturday Sun, the mother of four openly addressed the widespread problem of sexual harassment within Nollywood.

She emphasized the importance of consent, asserting that individuals should never be compelled to engage in unwanted sexual situations.

“I hear people say ‘producer and director slept with me.’ You were not slept with under duress; I’m sure you wanted it because if you didn’t, nobody would force or rape you to give you the script. I’ve been asked many times, but I never went along with it. It’s a choice, and I’m mature enough to know what I want. Even while in the banking field, where I did my Industrial training, my boss said, “Sleep with me; let me give you a promotion,” and I didn’t want it. It is my choice. So, everything in life has to get your consent first,” the Anambra State-born Thespian said.

Okafor’s ability to avoid controversies is a testament to her values. “I’m a no-drama zone, if you mess up, I deal with it immediately. I don’t have time to make videos or post online. My mental health is very important to me. I do not owe anybody anything nor does anybody owe me anything. So, all that controversy and drama is not my thing. I just want to be me and live for my children. I want God to bless me so I can give my children the best.In an era where celebrities often over-share their personal lives on social media, Okafor takes a different approach. She believes in maintaining a boundary between her private life and the public eye. “I let you see what I want you to see. You cannot know too much about me because I’m not comfortable with that.”
